The twentieth century is a century of shocking contradictions, deep social conflicts and disappointments; yet, it is also the century of hope for humanity, the age of the persistent pursuit of new and better ways of developing the society. It brought a profound change in all spheres of human activity, including ideology, culture and art. Never before had painting, sculpture and graphics been so closely and directly connected with real life, never before had critical orientation and omnidenial been manifested so vividly.
As well as before, in the 20th century artistic styles become tied closer with the concepts of the era, with its mythology. Obviously, the place of myth in the art of modern times is taken by scientific and technological progress, which led artists to abandon the usual view of the world.
